Good Week

So it was a pretty good week.

I rolled into Freedom Hall on Wednesday and enjoyed an absolute blow out of St. John's. I went to the game with some buddies from school because Meg had a late meeting. We didn't even make an appearance at the Sky Box (my normal seats in the last row of the upper level) and headed directly to the student section right behind the U of L goal. The seats gave us a perfect view of the surging cardinals.

Although they weren't perfect the cards looked good. After a sloppy first five minutes where they were out rebounded 10-3, they responded just like a dominant team should. A ridiculous alley-oop Dunk (Jerry Smith to TWill) followed by a steal and easy lay-in (Jerry) followed by another steal and another lay-in (E5). That sequence turned a 4 point deficit into a 2 point lead.

The Johnnies hung around for another 5 minutes until the Cards put the pedal to the metal and ended the half on an 18-3 run. They reminded me of the 2005 squad that would lull you to sleep then cut off your head and run away with the ballgame. Although our offensive execution isn't quite there, these kids are longer, more athletic, and superior on the defensive end compared to the Final Four team. If they can learn to shoot in the off-season we could be in for big things next year.
